Curator/EXHIBITOR Maksut Vezgishi, Pavilion Of The Republic Of Kosovo. Earth is Home / The role of urbanization is to create sustainable environments that bond humans with Nature and it is part of planetary biodiversity. Hence, this is the noblest mission of architecture. Global urbanization is in expansion: population growth, constructions of megastructures (housing, economy, communications, etc.). The process involves countries and societies where every decision—making has a global impact, thus lack of sustainable planning places Earth at risk. The most acute issue is the global warming crisis. We lack the awareness and coordinated actions in order to avoid the effects of climate disaster. Today we learned that no human action can be viewed as an individual anymore.

… Where is the seductive simplicity of expression in Artan’s works? It starts with the way the works appear to us. Most of his works are made of different cardboards that he finds on the streets, through unnecessary cardboards that others would throw in the trash … Cardboards have all kinds of shapes, as he find them. He does not cut the card, after something has been worked on it, but he paints on the shape that the card has had since he found it. He lets the cardboard speak for itself … In this sense, the main medium of his works are like some random drawings that a child would make under the palace: without any final purpose, without any hope that this work will end a day under a hierarchical framework … The simplicity of expression in Artan’s works also manifests itself in a general minimalism that pervades the play: we often have a man, or Artan himself, with two or three things floating in the emptiness of the cardboard. The works do not have a wild minimalism, black and white: they look more like a infantile minimalism, a minimalism haunted in temporary dreams … / /Erlind Sulko
